Rescuing Data from an App with No Export

Preserving personal information when no export exists

Researching a safe, rule-abiding way to preserve personal entries from a consumer app that offers no bulk export.

Responsible AIOCRPrivacyData Ownership

The question

How can a person preserve their own entries in a consumer app that has no documented bulk export?

What I did

I reviewed the official developer platform, account-data options, privacy policy, interface limitations, and the risks of automating access in ways that could break platform rules. Rather than force a fragile or unauthorized scraping approach, I designed a safer path:

  1. Request the account data directly.
  2. If needed, manually capture only the user’s own material.
  3. Process screenshots or recordings locally with OCR.
  4. Remove overlapping text.
  5. Organize the result into a searchable document or structured file.

Why it’s here

It shows how I approach AI responsibly: technical possibility is only one consideration. Privacy, platform rules, account safety, data ownership and the consequences for the user matter just as much.
